Easter Message from Hon. Prime
Minister
It gives me great pleasure to add
a message on the Good Friday and Easter celebrated by Christians in all over
the world commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary and His Resurrection.
The Easter which ends the period
of lent commences on Good Friday is a very important religious feast celebrated
with great respect by the Christians in Sri Lanka and around the world. The
Jesus Christ has taught that people should not hesitate to forgive and forget.
The Jesus Christ endured all the
sins of the entire mankind and forgave the offenders and dedicated his own life
for the whole living beings. He always advocated for the humanity and justice
and we can learn many lessons from his life although he was subjected to much hatreds
and revenges. He was harassed by many sinful people but nobody could stop his
teachings towards the perseverance and compassion. The Easter celebrated by the
Christian would become a real religious feast if one follows the doctrine of
the Jesus than being a mere nominal Christian.
The resurrection of the of the Jesus Christ in a holy miracle showing
the qualities of compassion, equity and co-existence towards the mankind can be
considered as a renaissance which inspires new hopes and new life for the
mankind.
With the triumph of the thirty
year prolonged war under the able leadership of HE the President Mahinda
Rajapaksha, the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities in our motherland have
got the opportunity of living together harmoniously. As a country which follows
the path of development after being victimized by the brutal war, there are
many lessons we could learn from the Jesus Christ.
I fervently wish a happy and
peaceful Easter for the Sri Lankan Christians who celebrate this special day as
a nation integrated with peace and coexistence.

යේසුස් ක්‍රිස්තුස් වහන්සේ, කල්වාරි හිදී
කුරුසයේ ඇණ ගැසීමෙන් පසු, මළවුන්ගෙන් උට්ඨාන වූ දිනය හෙවත්, ලෝපුරා කිතුණු ජනයා
මහත් බැතියෙන් සමරන පාස්කු මංගල්‍යය නිමිත්තෙන් සුභපැතුම් එක් කරන්නේ හදපිරි ප්‍රීතියෙනි.
අළු බදාදා දිනයෙන් ආරම්භ වී වතාරික සමය අවසන්
කෙරෙන පාස්කු දිනය, ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය කිතුණු ප්‍රජාව මෙන්ම, ලෝවාසී කිතුණු බැතිමතුන්
අති ගෞරවයෙන් යුතුව සිහිපත් කරන මංගල්‍යයක් වශයෙන් සැලකිය හැකිය. වරද නිවැරදි කිරීමටත්, වරදට සමාව දීමටත් සෑම
අවස්ථාවකම නොපැකිලිව ඉදිරිපත් විය යුතු බව යේසූස් ක්‍රිස්තු දෙවි සමිඳාණන්ගේ ඉගැන්වීමෙහි සඳහන්ය.
සමස්ත මානවයාගේ පාපය තමා වෙත දරා ගත් දෙවි
සමිදාණන් වරදට සමාව දී සමස්ත සත්ත්ව ප්‍රජාව වෙනුවෙන් සිය ජීවිතය කැප කළේය. මනුෂ්‍යත්වය සහ සාධාරණත්වය වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටි
උන්වහන්සේ, පාපතරයින්ගේ වෛරය සහ පළිගැනීමට ලක්වූවත්, ඉන් අපට උගත හැකි පාඩම්
බොහෝමය. පාපතරයින්ගේ හිංසාවට ලක්වුවද,
නොපසුබස්නා වීර්යය සහ මානව දයාව සඳහා උන්වහන්සේ කළ
ඉගැන්වීම් කිසිවකුටත් නතර කිරීමට නොහැකි විය. අද බැතියෙන් සමරන මේ පාස්කු මංගල්‍යය
සැබෑ ආගමික මංගල්‍යයක් වන්නේ, නාමිකව කිතුණු භක්තිකයකු වීමට වඩා සැබවින්ම යේසූස්
දෙවි සමිදාණන්ගේ ධර්මයෙහි හැසිරෙන විටය.
යේසූස් ක්‍රිස්තුස් වහන්සේ සමස්ත ලෝවැසියන් වෙත
දයාව, සමානාත්මතාව සහ සහජීවනය ගෙන එමින් දිව්‍යමය ප්‍රාතිහාර්යය විදහා මළවුන්ගෙන්
නැගී සිට මානව වර්ගයාගේ නව බලාපොරොත්තු සහ නව ජීවයක් ඇති කිරීමක් ලෙස ද සැලකිය
හැකිය.
අතිගරු ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමාගේ
නායකත්වයෙන් තිස් වසරක් තිස්සේ පැවැති දරුණු ත්‍රස්තවාදය සදහටම නිමා කිරීමත් සමග
මේ මාතෘ භූමියේ වෙසෙන සිංහල, දෙමළ, මුස්ලිම් සහ බර්ගර් සියලු ජනයාට සුහදව ජීවත්
වීමේ වාතාවරණය මේ වන විට උදාකර දී තිබේ.
එම රුඳුරු ත්‍රස්තවාදයට ගොඳුරුව යළි
සංවර්ධනය වන රටක් වශයෙන් අප සියල්ලන්ටම යේසුස් කිතු දෙවි සමිඳාණන්ගේ චරිතය තුළින් උගත හැකි පාඩම් බොහෝමය.
සාමය සහ සහජීවනයෙන් බැඳුණු එකම ශ්‍රී
ලාංකේය ජාතියක් වශයෙන් අද සමරන මේ පාස්කු මංගල්‍යය සාමකාමී සහ දේවත්වය කෙරෙහි
භක්තියෙන් යුතු මංගල්‍යයක් වේවා! යි ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරමි.
