Lankan government for giving this opportunity to represent the Muslim nation.
Sri Lanka which is a developing country in the Asia has the resources required
to achieve a development like the USA and Singapore. Sri Lanka has the ability
to become a developed country utilizing the human resource optimally. The
pressure on the developed Muslim countries including the Middle East countries is
enormous. Even though the leaders of such countries are subjected to many
threats, we are not in a position to go against such countries" Hon.
Mohamed Naghi Sharokhi added.
Talking to the envoys the Prime Minister D.M.
Jayaratne pointed out the following ideas.
"The government of Iran has assisted the
development of Sri Lanka on many occasions. The help we received in the fields
of road construction, water supply, irrigation and education is unforgettable.
However, we are sorry about the pressure on the many Muslim countries including
the Republic of Iran.
"I am really regretted over the conflicts
prevailing in countries like Iraq, Libya and Egypt. Muslim countries and
Middle-East countries have achieved a higher economic and social status. It is
incredible to see that Western countries always try to kill the leaders of such
countries."
"Even the new leaders are appointed subsequent to
murdering of the leaders in Muslim countries, it is pathetic that the conflicts
are still continues. We always try to create a peaceful world. However, as a
developing country we cannot recommend at any cost the decisions taken by the
countries with army power and attack aircrafts."
"Irrespective of the politics and the way of
thinking, it is noteworthy that all the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim people live
in the country harmoniously. We should categorically indicate that there are a
small fraction of people who plans to create unnecessary chaos between Buddhist
and Islamic people. However, this government will not allow them to create a
turmoil within the parliament or within the country. Under the able leadership
of H.E. the President, we always try to establish a peaceful community within
the country" the Premier further emphasized.
