He further said that currently China has achieved a rapid
economic development and as a result, now it remains as a powerful nation in
the world. The Ambassador expressed these views when he met the Prime Minister
at ‘Visumpaya’ the Official Residence of the Prime Minister today (14).
China always supports Sri Lanka in its endavours to boost the
economy and to enhance standard of living of the people in Sri Lanka. State and
private companies of China have arrived Sri Lanka to make their investments in
our country. In the meantime, they have taken steps to enhance the tourism,
highways, electricity and environmental situation of the country. The
Relationship between China and Sri Lanka has turned a new page in the history
of two countries. While Sri Lankans are dedicated to improve their lives in
terms of the Buddhist culture the Chinese too highly appreciates the influence
of the Buddhism, the Ambassador stated.
Sri Lankan authorities have taken several measures to attract
more Chinese tourists to Sri Lanka. He pointed out that many of them are
collecting details about Sri Lanka required for their tours through the
internet and Chinese have realized that Sri Lanka is a paradise for tourists.
Sri Lanka acts cooperatively with China in different fields such as culture,
military and economics. Mr. Wu Jiangho pledged China’s support to mitigate the
international pressures against Sri Lanka exerted from Western countries.
Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne stated that friendship ties
between China and Sri Lanka were tightened with the arrival Chinese Buddhist
monk Venerable Fa-Hien in Sri Lanka. Further, there were direct diplomatic
relationships between two countries during the regime of SWRD Bandaranaike and
both the countries yielded with benefits from this relationship. Premier
reminded that during the regime of Madam Sirimavo Bandaranaike too, there were
many investment programmes launched in Sri Lanka under the leadership of Mao
Tse Tung and some of such factories commenced with the assistance of China. The
construction of the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall was
completed in just two years and the support of China was received in the
development of Airport, harbor, hospital ect. The relationship between China
and Sri Lanka is never breaking but it strengthens further. Our ties of friendship
cannot be broken as per the needs of the Western Countries. However, the
developed countries are in a process of taking the underdeveloped countries into
their control. However, the learnt Americans and Europeans praise the
development the country has achieved during the post war period. He further
stated that it is the heartbeat of the people in Asian countries like South
Korea and Japan a well. The government of China has provided an enormous
assistance in the field of education in Sri Lanka. Many of our students have
got the opportunity to carry out their studies in China. Not only that the Sri
Lankan Scientists too have received training opportunities in China.
China has been an eternal friend of Sri Lanka. The Premier
requested the Ambassador to propagate about Sri Lanka and to attract more
tourists to our country. Prime Minister further pointed out that a programme at
diplomatic level should be designed to popularize Sri Lankan tea in China and
the prices of Sri Lankan should be made more attractive for them to purchase
tea at a reasonable rate.

මැතිතුමාගේ ආණ්ඩු සමයේ චීනය සමග ශ්රී ලංකාව සෘජු රාජ්ය තාන්ත්රික සබඳතා ආරම්භ
කළ බවත් එමගින් දෙරටට වාසිදායක තත්ත්වයන් රැසක් උදාවූ බවත් අග්රාමාත්යතුමා
පැවසීය. සිරිමාවෝ බණ්ඩාරනායක මැතිණියගේ
පාලන සමයේ දී චීනයේ අසහාය නායක මාඕ සේතුං මැතිතුමාගේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ
ආයෝජන රැසක් ආරම්භ කළ බවත් ඇතැම් කර්මාන්ත ශාලා චීනයේ ආධාර මත ලබාදුන් බවත් මෙහිදී
සිහිපත් කළේය. බණ්ඩාරනායක අන්තර්ජාතික
අනුස්මරණ සම්මන්ත්රණ ශාලාව වසර දෙකක් වැනි කෙටි කලකදී ඉදිකොට නිමා කළ බවත්,
ගුවන්තොටුපළ, වරාය, රෝහල් සංවර්ධනයට චීනයේ දායකත්වය නොමසුරුව ලැබී ඇති බවත් අග්රාමාත්යතුමා
කියා සිටියේය. චීන - ශ්රී ලංකා සබඳතා ශක්තිමත් භාවයෙන්යුත් නොබිදෙන සබඳතාවකි. එම බැදීම ඇතැම් බටහිර රටවලට අවශ්ය ආකාරයට බිඳහෙළිය
නොහැකි බව කී අග්රාමාත්යතුමා, කුඩා රටවල් අවනත කර ගැනීමට ආර්ථික වශයෙන්
සමෘද්ධිමත් රටවල් ක්රියා කරන බවද මෙහිදී කියා සිටියේය. එහෙත්, උගත් ඇමරිකානුවන්
හා උගත් යුරොපියානුවන් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ යුද්ධය අවසන්ව එළැඹ ඇති සංවර්ධන මාවත කෙරෙහි
ප්රශංසා මුඛයෙන් කතා කරන බව කී අග්රාමාත්යතුමා, දකුණු කොරියාව, ජපානය වැනි
ආසියානු රටවල ද ජනතාවගේ හද ගැස්ම එය බව සඳහන් කළේය. චීන රජය මෙරට අධ්යාපනය
නැංවීමට සුවිශාල දායකත්වයක් ලබාදී තිබේ.
මෙරට ශිෂ්ය ශිෂ්යාවන් රැසකට චීනයේ විශ්වවිද්යාල වල අධ්යාපනය ලැබීමට
අවස්ථාව උදාකර දී ඇත. එමෙන්ම, ශ්රී
ලංකාවේ විද්යාඥයින් පවා චීනයේ පුහුණුකොට තිබේ.
චීනය, අපගේ සදාකාලික මිතුරෙකි. ශ්රී
ලංකාවේ ස්වභාව සෞන්දර්යය පිළිබඳව චීන ජාතිකයන් දැනුවත් කොට වැඩි වශයෙන් එරටින්
සංචාරකයින් මෙරටට ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට තවදුරටත් අවස්ථාව සලසන ලෙස අග්රාමාත්යතුමා
තානාපතිතුමාගෙන් ඉල්ලීමක් කළේය. ශ්රී
ලංකාවේ තේ චීනයේ ජනප්රිය කරවීමේ වැඩසටහනක් රාජ්ය තාන්ත්රික මට්ටමින් ආරම්භ
