145th birth anniversary of Sir. D.B. Jayatilaka in the Department premises yesterday

Public Trustee Department organised an almsgiving for the Maha Sanga to mark the 145^th birth anniversary of Sir. D.B. Jayatilaka in the Department premises yesterday (18).

This meritorious event was held to bestow merits on the donors who transfer their trusts and estates to the Public Trustee Department and also to bestow blessings upon HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksha, Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne and the three forces.

Sir D.B. Jayatilaka has taken numerous progressive steps for the development of temples and also for the upliftment of the Buddhist education; further he has transferred all his properties including his house to the Public Trustee Department by a last will.

Right Ven. Dauldena Gnanissara Thero of Sri Lanka Amarapura chapter, Chancellor of Kelaniya University and Parivenadhipathi of Vidyalankara pirivena Ven. Dr. Welamitiyawe Kusaladamma Thero, Ven. Kotugoda Dammavasa Thero, Ven. Iththepane Dhammalankara thero and some other leading Buddhist monks, Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardena, Secretary to the Ministry Mr. M.K.B. Dissanayake, Commissioner of Buddhist Affairs Mr. Chandraprema Gamage and the relatives of Sir. D.B. Jayathilake also participated at this event held under the patronage of Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne.
